An amateur concert is generally recorded with a front angle by a single camcorder which is fixed by tripod.

Sound quality is important for the recording of the concert. However, the video should be also cool since recently we post it to SNS like YouTube.

We consider whether videos can be recorded easily with multiple angle view by placing multiple Olympus Air in various positions of the concert hall. Since Olympus Air is light and small, it can be placed without noticeable in various positions.

Only single Olympus Air can be controlled by a smartphone via Wi-Fi connection. On the other hand, multiple Olympus Air can be controlled via Bluetooth(Smart) connection.

We have created an prototype app which can record videos with multiple Olympus Air via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection. And we tried to record the actual concert with using it.

AirMultiRec prototype app

(1) Place Olympus Air in the concert hall

Olympus Air were placed in the range of about 5m from the smartphone for control. The concert was recorded with five Olympus Air that were placed in the following position.

AIR01 : Front of the stage, AIR02 : Left front of the stage, AIR03 : Right front of the stage, AIR04 : Left behind the stage, AIR05 : Right behind the stage

Used Connect screen(Connect tab) of the app. Turned on an Olympus Air to connect to the smartphone via Wi-Fi. Tapped the button for Wi-Fi connection, to complete connection to the app. Tapped the button for Bluetooth connection, to complete connection the 2nd to 5th Olympus Air to the app. The buttons were changed in active state while connecting.

(5) Recording results

The results that were recorded at the real concert and edited have been uploaded to the following URL of Youtube.

The video you can see each of the stage from the left and right and from behind. Interesting videos with the variable angle of view have been created.

However , there were some phenomena that do not work properly as shown below.

- Recording had not been started
- Recording had not been stopped
- Recording settings had not set to some Olympus Air

Olympus Air that did not work properly were connected with Bluetooth, and were located farther from the smartphone control position. Because it is assumed that there is a case that Bluetooth communication does not work , the app needs to take a solution such as retry.
