"Can strong stress turn hair white overnight?"

The first is that experiencing intense fear or stress can turn one's hair white overnight. This is famously attributed to a legend about Marie Antoinette, the queen of France's King Louis XVI. It's said that she turned white-haired overnight after being captured during the French Revolution, just before her execution. In Japan, a similar story is told about the poet and one of the three beauties of the Taisho era, Yanagihara Byakuren. It's reported that her hair turned white overnight after learning of her eldest son's death in World War II (ironically, just four days before the war ended). While it's impossible to verify the truth of these historical anecdotes, it is unlikely that already grown hair can turn white. Gray hair typically grows as such from the beginning.
The second common belief is that "plucking gray hair causes more to grow." The act of plucking gray hairs usually starts when they become noticeable. People might not have paid much attention to them before, but once they start looking, they might feel like the gray hairs are increasing. However, repeatedly plucking gray hair can damage the hair follicles and papilla, eventually leading to thinning hair or even areas where no hair grows, including gray hair. If you're concerned about gray hair, it's better to either cut them from the root or use hair dye.
