Q: Can you explain the general process of the surgery?
A: We'll start with a thorough consultation to assess the condition of your scalp and hair growth. Based on your needs, the doctor will propose the most suitable treatment plan. Once you're satisfied, we'll schedule the surgery. Generally, hair transplant procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.
First, we'll harvest grafts from the donor area at the back of your head. Assuming we're harvesting around 1000 grafts, this process usually takes about 1 to 2 hours. Next, we'll create recipient sites in the transplant area based on the predetermined design. This step typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour for 1000 grafts. Then comes the actual transplant. Grafts are meticulously implanted along the designated lines. This step can take around 1 to 2 hours for 1000 grafts.
Including breaks, you should plan for the surgery to take approximately 5 to 6 hours. However, keep in mind that the duration may vary depending on factors such as the experience of the doctor and nurses, as well as the condition of your scalp.
