会場で主催者が向かえてくれるときに、”Hello, Mr. Kent”
という人がいます。
When I arrive at the venue, some people greet me by saying “Hello, Mr. Kent.” It seems weird to me.
妙に感じます。Kentは下の名前だから、本来ならMr.が付きません。
Kent is my first name, so you wouldn’t precede it by Mr.
たまに、”Hello, Kent”という人もいます。本人はテレビを通して
私を知っているけれど、私にとっては初対面。
だから、いきなり呼び捨てで言われると戸惑います。
Occasionally someone will greet me by saying “Hello, Kent.” That person knows me through television, but I am meeting him or her for the first time, so it takes me off guard to be addressed so informally without the obligatory –san suffix.
”Hello, Mr. Gilbert”となると、これはまた非常に堅く感じます。
And if someone says, “Hello, Mr. Gilbert,” this seems to be too formal.
英語と日本語を交ぜるからおかしいかも知れませんが、
”Hello, Kent-san”と言われるのが一番好きですね。
日本での滞在が長過ぎたからでしょうか？（笑）
It may be strange to mix Japanese and English, but I really prefer to be addressed: “Hello, Kent-san.” Is this because I have been living in Japan for too long?
