Down the Rabbit Hole その3
ウサギが横を駆けていったのを見たところでした。
There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and, burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

nothing so very って。
nothing so remarkable とか
nothing very remarkable とかが普通言う言い方ですね。
so も very も、同じことなので、二重に言ってることになりますね。
It's so very beautiful!
とは、普通では言わないですもんね。
でも、普通の言い方ではなくて、おかしな感じ？ふざけた感じ？で強調したい時、こういうのもアリなんだってこと。
言葉なんて、どんどん新しく作れるんですから。
日本語も、よい子の日本語は「とても」とかせいぜい「すごく」とかですけど、「も～超最高に」とか、「全く全然」とか、使うでしょう？
あと、英語でよくやるのが、
soooooooo
って、のばすやつ。
子猫の写真とか見て、
It's sooooooo cuuuuuuuuuute!!!!!!
とかね。
さて、否定文に so とか very をいれると、あまり～じゃない、という控えめな否定になります。
nothing so very remarkable
で、「そ～んな別に、たいして remarkable なところはなかった 」って、いってるんですね。
控えめ x 2 で、控えめは軽減されます。
マイナス x マイナス = プラス になるのと同じです。
nothing very remarkable だけなら、そんなに remarkable ではない、といっているのですが
それをさらに、 not so .... と言うので、nothing very remarkable の度合いが「そんなに～じゃない」って言ってる。
not very remarkable ほどでもない、みたいな？？？
。。。
言いたいことわかりますか？？

わかろうとして眠れなくなったりしないように。
で、そのあとに、
nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear ...
と、ここでも so very much out of the way ときてます。
そ～んなに、別に、たいして、変わったことじゃない。。。って感じです。
そして、nor が来てますね。
最初に否定文を言い、これでもない、そしてこれでもない、と続けて否定する時、nor を使います。
nor の文は、語順注意です。
nor Alice thought ... ではなく、
nor did Alice think ...
nor did（過去形の文なので did ） Alice think（原形に戻る） ... となる。
文をわかりやすく変えてみると、
There was not very remarkable about it nor did Alice think that it was very much out of the way to hear ....
という感じでしょうか。
nor は以前やりましたね。

ここで、この同じような言いまわしを2回してる、っていうのが、ポイントですよね。
ウサギが横を走り抜けていったのはそんなにたいして変わったところはないし、ウサギがひとり言いっているのを見ても、それがそんなに大して変わったこととは思わなかった、ってことです。（訳ではないです。）
そういう状況が、いかにも 自然～！なことのように思われたんですね、Alice には。
あまりにも自然にさらっと、しゃべるウサギが横を通り過ぎていった。ことのように思われたのです。その時は。
