Down the Rabbit Hole その4
前回の文の続きです。

There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and, burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

think it って、なってます。
think of it とか
think about it とかではないですけど、こういう言い方していたんでしょうねきっと。。。
目的語でしょうね。
上で変えたみたいに、関係代名詞使って文をくっつけるようにして、it を主語にしても言えますけどね。
何が「そんなに out of the way ではない 」 と思ったのかというと、
way は、道、ここではつまり物事の道理、のような意味になります。
それから out of... つまり、外れてる、ということです。

ウサギがしゃべってる、ということですね。
普通びっくりしますよね～。
でもその時はあまりにも自然だったのです。でも、
(when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural);
when she thought it over afterwards,
あとになってもう一度考えてみたら、
occurred to her
考えが頭に浮かんだ、ってことです。
どんな考えかというと、
that she ought to have wondered at this,
もっと不思議に思ってもよかったんじゃない？ってこと。
ought to
should と同じです。
単語が違うってことはどこかに違いがあるってことですけど。
響きの違いくらい？？？
個人的に、ought to のほうが、should よりも obligation （その義務がある！というような）が強いような「響き」を「感じ」ます。
ought to のほうが、ちょっとかたい感じで響きますね。
通常の会話では、should のほうが断然頻繁に使われています。
たまには should の代わりに ought to を使ってみて、ちょっと大人な感じをかもし出して見ませんか？

ほらね。ウサギが通り過ぎた時は、あまりにも自然に思えた、のですね。
