今回は初めて戦争体験にまつわる話でした。
This was first time talking about war experience.
大東亜戦争で最も悲惨な戦場と言われるガダルカナル島で壊滅的な死者を出した中、
It was a lecture given by the son of a man who miraculously survived the devastating deaths on Guadalcanal Island,
奇蹟的に生還された方の御子息の講話でした。
which is said to be the most tragic battlefield of the Greater East Asian War.
銃弾に倒れて死ぬのではなく、餓死した日本兵が数万人いたとされるのがガダルカナル島での戦いでした。
It is said that tens of thousands of Japanese soldiers died of starvation instead of being killed by bullets during the Battle of Guadalcanal.
その方は生き残りの父に聞いたそうです。
It seems that the person asked the surviving father.
「戦争に行って人は殺したのか？」と。
"Did you go to war and kill people?"
父は応えました。
Father answered.
「川を境に両軍が銃を撃ち合う。その間には藪や草木が生い茂っていて相手は見えないが弾は飛びかい仲間は次々と倒れていく、こちらも撃たなければ被弾してしまう。戦争とはそう言うものだ」
"Both armies are firing at each other across the river. In the meantime, bushes and trees grow thickly, and you can't see your opponent, but the bullets fly and your comrades fall one after another. If you don't shoot too, you'll be hit. War. War That's what they say."
聞いた自分が恥ずかしくなったそうです。
Hearing that, he felt embarrassed.
戦争は決してしてはならないと当事者は言ったそうです。
The parties said that war should never be fought.
「もし、今後戦争になったら絶対に加担するな。周りからなんと言われようとも、山奥や人気のないところに逃げて生き延びろ」と言ったそうです。
He is said to have said, ``If war breaks out in the future, never take part in it.
今の日本人の殆どは、戦争を経験し、生き抜いた勇敢で奇蹟的な生き残りのDNAを受け継いでいる筈です。
Most of the Japanese people today must have inherited the DNA of brave and miraculous survivors who survived the war.
この恩恵は絶対に批判や否定してはなりません。
This benefit should never be criticized or denied.
戦争で亡くなった英霊達は20歳そこそこの若者が多かったですが、彼らがどう言う思いで戦地に向かったのか？
Many of the spirits who died in the war were young people in their 20s.
そして、散っていったのか？
And did it go away?
私達子孫はその行為を改めて記憶に留める必要があると思っています。
I think that we descendants need to remember that act again.
何故なら、米国の植民地支配に反発して彼らが戦ってくれたから分割統治されず、
It is because they fought against the colonial rule of the United States that Japan was not divided and ruled,
今の日本国があるからです。
and the present Japan exists.
多くの日本人は真珠湾に奇襲して悪い事をした教育を受けていますが、
Many Japanese are educated to have done bad things by surprise attacking Pearl Harbor,
その事実は捏造されていて本質を理解していません。
but the fact is fabricated and they do not understand the essence.
戦後77年経ちましたが、私達は大東亜戦争に付いて真実を知らないのです。
Seventy-seven years have passed since the end of the war, but we still do not know the truth about the Greater East Asian War.
